Sheriffhales Pumping Test

Severn Trent Water commissioned ESI to assess the impact of increased pumping rates from a source used to augment stream flows.

Sheriffhales Pumping Test Case Study - 6839 - Severn Trent Water LtdESI carried out a water survey of approximately eighty locations within a 2 km radius of the borehole to identify boreholes, wells and surface water features which could potentially be affected by the pumping test.

The pumping test was carried out over a five week period in summer 2007.  Due to operational constraints at the source, the test was carried out in a stepped manner rather than as a traditional constant rate test.  Due to extremely wet weather conditions, abstraction ceased before full recovery occurred.

On completion of the test, ESI produced an interpretative report on the outcome of the test for submission in support of the licence variation application and updated the deployable output assessment of the source.
