Project Consultants based in Shrewsbury and Reading

ESI is the UK’s leading independent scientific and environmental consultancy specialising in water resource management, land quality and ground source energy. We are an employee owned company with offices in Shrewsbury and Milan and a new regional office in Reading. Our team includes some of the UK’s leading groundwater specialists and our clients include diverse blue chip corporations and governmental bodies.

We are seeking a candidate with a strong academic background, most likely with an MSc in groundwater science, and excellent internal and client communication skills. As a successful consultant you will have experience of developing solutuions to client issues through effective project management and willl have a commitment to deliver work of the highest standard to meet demanding deadlines. An ambitious candidate will excel in our growing, dynamic, consultancy environment.  UK environmental industry experience is an advantage.

Responsibilities and duties:

  • Management, design and delivery of projects to meet client requirements.
  • Lead projects that deliver high quality, pragmatic, advice and solutions to environmental problems.
  • Manage and perform a wide variety of technical, field and office based tasks.
  • Communicate effectively in written and verbal presentation formats.
  • Supervision of project teams and contractors on site investigation programmes.
  • Interpretation of client objectives and translation into technical work programmes through effective proposal writing.
  • Actively support ESI’s commercial development plans, developing leads and opportunities to secure new business.
  • Develop positive client relationships through effective account management.
  • Pro actively expand ESI's network through participation in industry groups and associations.
  • Adhere to ESI’s quality assurance and health and safety procedures.

Qualifications:

  • MSc or higher in Hydrogeology
  • 3 to 5 years experience of project delivery

This position reports to a Principal Consultant or Technical Director

You will join a world class team of environmental specialists involved at the leading edge of current practice working in close partnership with clients in diverse industries including water utilities, local authorities, waste management, mining and quarrying, petrochemical industry, property, infrastructure and construction, and regulatory bodies, and contribute to major projects which make a real difference.  ESI is known for its high level of service and we are seeking high calibre candidates who have the aptitude and motivation to succeed in an environment that values scientific rigour and innovation.
