Many developments require permits for abstraction licensing and discharge consenting regimes. Changes to the abstraction licensing system as a result of the Water Act (2003) will bring many currently exempted operations (such as quarry dewatering) within the system for the first time. It will also require abstraction licences to be renewed every 15 years. Whilst there will be a presumption to renew, it is likely that many of the more contentious licences may require detailed Environmental Assessments to be carried out. ESI has a strong track record of quickly and efficiently providing the regulators with applications that meet their requirements to allow such applications to be speedily determined.
