“I have dealt with ESI for many years both as a Regulator reviewing their reports and as a Client employing them to investigate two former gas works sites under Shropshire Council’s Environmental Protection Act 1990 Part IIA responsibilities. ESI have a clear understanding of the difficulties faced by Local Authorities in carrying out their Environmental Protection Act 1990 Part IIA duties and the projects were managed extremely well, within budget, on time and in particular I would like to applaud the professionalism and respect that ESI staff on the ground showed to the residents when working around their properties.
“ESI carried out detailed risk assessments in respect of both human health and controlled waters that have resulted in Shropshire Council determining a number of residential properties as statutory contaminated land. Subsequent more targeted sampling of shallow soils to delineate the distribution of contaminants has allowed the human health risk assessment to be updated and support the options appraisals to assist Shropshire Council in identifying the most appropriate remediation strategy. Shropshire Council continues to work with ESI on both projects and would not hesitate to recommend their services to others and will consider them for future schemes.” Dominic Levy, Contaminated Land Officer - Shropshire County Council October 2011
