Borehole and Aquifer Test Interpretation

The leading UK and European pumping test interpretation short course, introducing the practical interpretation of pumping test data for site characterisation, well efficiency and determination of aquifer properties.

Solve practical problems of hydrogeological characterisation using the preferred software of hydrogeologists and engineers world-wide. The Borehole and Aquifer Test Interpretation course is a popular one day training course that provides a practical and theoretical grounding in the specification and interpretation of pumping test data.

Appropriate level of data interpretation and the dangers of inappropriate use of the pumping test solutions are described together with hands-on exercises designed to provide practical skills for the efficient analysis of pumping test results. Implications of data errors, and the contrast between ideal conceptual models and real aquifers are highlighted.

Featured Topics:- Borehole and Aquifer Test Interpretation Course

  •
analytical and semi-analytical solutions and their conceptual assumptions;
  •
manual and automated type-curve analysis;
  •
slug tests, step tests and constant yield tests;
  •
drawdown and recovery tests;
  •
interpretation of aquifer transmissivity and storage parameters;
  •
interpretations for different aquifer characteristics;
  •
appropriate use of automated computer based tools.

The hands-on sessions use AquiferWin32 - the internationally recognised standard in pumping test interpretation software. This is the pumping test interpretation software used by the Environment Agencies of England and Wales, with the latest version adopted as standard throughout their offices.

The comprehensive two-day programme equips delegates with the practical skills required to design pumping tests for aquifer characterisation and hydrogeological site investigations as well as promoting awareness of the role and limitations of the underlying analytical solutions.

Who should attend the Borehole and Aquifer Test Interpretation course?

The course is designed for consultants, regulators and industry personnel who need to interpret, review or specify borehole tests for hydrogeological characterisation. Previous delegates include staff from the UK Environment Agencies, European regulatory bodies, water companies, universities and research organisations, consultants and government bodies.

"I enjoyed the workshops and the course has been very good value"
